Trade tensions between the United States and China are likely to continue for years even decades as President Donald Trump’s tariff escalations fail to address the underlying friction and causes of imbalance, says Raj Bhala, international trade law professor at Kansas University Law School, in this inaugural episode of the podcast. Trump’s highly touted ‘deals’ are not trade deals at all in the traditional sense of the major, multilateral negotiations that created the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) or the World Trade Organization (WTO).
